JPCo Burl Oak Camp Knife
We've always had a fondness for knives. We refer to our own knifes as our 'uniform', carrying them daily, and adorning them with character as we use them for everything from opening a bottle, cutting an apple, or any other need that arises. Knives are not only tools. They tell a story after years of riding on your hip. If they're quality, they'll last a lifetime and become something to eventually pass down. It's been a long time goal of ours to develop our own line of knives, and this camp knife is blazing the trail.
The Story of The JPCo Burl Oak Camp Knife:
For this knife, we wanted to make it personal. We wanted this knife to come from our hands to yours. This is where the handle comes in. These handles started as an old growth oak tree that was growing on our ranch (the same ranch you've seen in our videos, and heard us sing about on songs from Heavy Heart to Round Prairie Road). Last winter, the hard freeze we had here in Texas took a heavy toll on many of the trees. Instead of turn them in to firewood, we bought a lumber mill and have been turning these fallen trees in to furniture, lumber, and anything else we can find use for. The wood on the handles of these knives came from a specially selected burl we chose and milled ourselves. From the chainsaw, to the mill, to the mailbox headed to Bevel Manufacturing, in NY (the knife maker whom we partnered with on these knives), these knives are literally made with a very part of the place that has inspired a good majority of our music. You're holding a piece of the ranch in your hand when you hold this knife. We hope you love them as much as we do.
